Termite Control in Hollywood, FL
Four Eras of Wood in One Building

What We Find on Hollywood Termite Inspections
Hollywood has been added to continuously since the 1920s,
and very little of it has been torn down. Open a wall near the beach or off
Hollywood Boulevard, and you rarely find one building; you find four, stacked on
each other.
The original framing is old-growth pine, dense enough that
drywood struggles in it. What sits beside it does not: a 1950s rear addition, a
1970s enclosed porch, a 1990s re-roof and last year's cabinetry, all ordinary
lumber, all butted straight into the original. Activity travels along that
seam, and a homeowner who was told the house is solid old wood is usually right
about the part that is not infested.
The beach blocks add salt to it. Small buildings converted
from motels to condos and back again have exterior wood that has been
weathering since before the last remodel covered it. Our
termite control services on this stock begin with working out how
many buildings we are actually looking at.
Termite Species Active in Hollywood
Drywood Termites
Live inside the wood that they eat and need no soil contact at
all. In Hollywood, they favor later additions and re-roofs over the original heart pine, and we find them crossing at the seam between the two.
Native Subterranean Termites
Nest underground and tube up through slab cracks, foundation
walls, and plumbing penetrations. Low ground on either side of the FEC line keeps
colonies active through the dry months.
Asian Subterranean Termites
Invasive and established along coastal Broward since the
1990s, with colonies larger than the native species and the ability to nest
above ground inside a structure. On a building with concealed voids that habit
is why a clean perimeter clears nothing.
Why Hollywood Homeowners Choose Royal Pest & Termite
Since 2014, we have handled termite work across Broward
County from our Miramar Parkway office. Florida-licensed technicians, ongoing
University of Florida training, and Florida Pest Management Association
membership sit behind the work. Our own licensed crew performs fumigation
instead of a subcontracted tenting company.
A dog inspired the name, and product selection starts with who lives in the house rather than what is eating it. One account and one guarantee cover Hollywood pest control and termite work.
Termite Control Questions from Hollywood Homeowners
How much does termite treatment cost in Hollywood?
What causes termites in a house?
What does termite damage look like?
Usually it looks like nothing until it is well along, because both groups eat from the inside out and leave the painted surface intact. What shows is secondary: trim that sounds hollow, paint that blisters in a line, a door that stops closing, or a floor with a soft spot. Opening the wood reveals galleries packed with soil in subterranean work and clean chambers in drywood work.
Can termites get into furniture?
What kills termites instantly?
How do I know if I have termites?
What is a WDO inspection and do I need one to sell my home?
A wood-destroying organism inspection is a formal report on
termite, wood-boring beetle, and wood-decay activity, and Florida lenders and
buyers often require one during a transaction. It produces a signed state form
rather than a standard report. If you are listing a property here, schedule it
early enough to handle findings before closing.
