What is a termite pre-treatment certificate?

A pre-treatment certificate (sometimes called a termite letter) is an official document issued by a licensed pest control company certifying that the soil on a construction site has been properly treated for termites before the slab is poured. It's required by the state of Florida for new construction and must be on file for the building permit process. We issue the certificate as soon as the treatment is complete.

How much does termite pre-treatment cost?

The cost depends on the slab footprint and the foundation's complexity. Larger homes and commercial buildings with more protrusions, plumbing penetrations, and foundation features require more product and labor. We provide estimates based on your construction plans, call us with the approximate square footage and we can give you a quote.

When should termite pre-treatment be scheduled?
Pre-treatment should be applied after the building pad is graded and prepared, but before the concrete slab is poured. The timing window is specific, the soil needs to be exposed, and the treatment needs to be applied close enough to the pour that it remains effective and undisturbed. We coordinate directly with your general contractor or builder to schedule at the right point in the construction timeline.
What product do you use for termite pre-treatment?

We use a professional-grade liquid termiticide applied directly to the soil. The product creates a chemical barrier in the soil that prevents subterranean termites from entering the structure above. It's applied to the full slab footprint, all footers and headers, and around every protrusion and plumbing penetration.

Does pre-treatment come with a termite warranty or bond?
Pre-treatment provides a layer of termite protection for the new structure, and the specific warranty terms depend on the product used and the scope of treatment. We can discuss warranty options when providing your estimate. For ongoing protection beyond the initial pre-treatment barrier, we recommend pairing pre-treatment with a termite monitoring program (bait stations) once the structure is complete.
